High School. NYC. The usual crew. 10th grade I think. This is also when I started listening to grunge music - Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Sound Garden, Stone Temple Pilots. None of my friends were listening to that kind of music at the time. Nobody really turned me on to it. Just gravitated toward the sound… wore those headphones a lot. Lots of personal life shifts happened during this time. I was 15/16.

Love this, Zadi! It’s like Fame High. Probably about the farthest thing away from any high school backdrop I could dig up from my formative years. But I’m going to. In fact, I’d like to welcome the rest of you to do the same. Let’s compare histories!

What’s fascinating about this photo is that none of the people in it knew anything about Facebook, Twitter or digital cameras. Why do I feel a burst of nostalgia for such times?
